British Mo Farah has been forced to pull out of Sunday’s London Marathon through a hip injury. In the past three years, Farah has only raced seven times. He will turn 40 in March. However, Kipchoge, who last week made a record of 2hr 01min 09 secs in the world marathon, believes that Farah still has more big race victories.
Kipchoge, who is in London to watch the race, said absolutely Mo Farah can still keep going, and I want to wish him a quick recovery from his injury. Injuries are part of the challenges of elite sport, and my advice is to recover from your injury and come back, he said to Farah.
Moreover, Kipchoge said Mo Farah has a lot more to give, and I think he will come back stronger. The training is there, and after the injury, he can come back and show the world what is actually in him, he said.
On asked if age was just a number for Farah, Kipchoge replied, yes, age is a number. Moreover, he said If you were training well and focused in the right direction on what you are doing, then you can continue to perform, and Mo can still win the best races.
While paying tribute to Kipchoge, Kenenisa Bekele stressed that he should be regarded as No 1. He said his CV includes 17 world championship titles, multiple world records, and three Olympic gold medals that appeared unbeatable until the record advances in spike technology.
Kipchoge said about Kenenisa’s statement I agree that Kenenisa is the best of all time, he has a lot of medals in cross country, track, and Olympics, and he has done well in the marathon, and I agree he is the best.
On asked Kenenisa better than you, Kipchoge replied, absolutely, he has been a positive role model to me and the whole generation.
Moreover, Kipchoge said I think there are still goals for me, I don’t want to say if I can run under two hours in an official race, but still, I will try to beat the world record.
The 2022 London Marathon will be without many of its star names, such as in the men’s race Mo Farah, Tamirat Tola, Vincent Kipchumba, and Mosinet Geremew. In the women’s race, Brigid Kosgei and Eilish McColgan will not be in the race.
